1. About Mekete
Mekete is a SaaS-enabled verified supplier network for event equipment hire. The platform helps event organisers request quotes from approved suppliers for event-related equipment and services, including tents, marquees, chairs, tables, décor, sound, lighting, staging, mobile toilets, generators and related event infrastructure.
Mekete is not currently a payment processor for customer event bookings. Mekete does not currently process customer booking payments, supplier payouts, escrow, split payments or marketplace settlement for event bookings.
Where payment functionality is available, it is intended for supplier subscription payments to Mekete for platform access, supplier plans, profile visibility, product capability tools or related SaaS services.
2. Acceptance of these Terms
By using Mekete, creating an account, submitting a quote request, applying as a supplier, subscribing to a supplier plan or accessing the platform, you agree to these Terms.
If you do not agree with these Terms, you must not use the platform.
3. User types
Mekete supports different user types:
- Customers or event organisers who request quotes or compare supplier proposals.
- Supplier applicants who apply to join the verified supplier network.
- Approved suppliers who have been reviewed and activated by Mekete.
- Admins who manage requests, supplier applications, verification, quotes, handovers and platform operations.
Customers may submit quote requests directly. Suppliers may not create active supplier accounts without approval. Suppliers must apply, complete onboarding and receive admin approval before they may appear on the platform, receive leads, submit quotes or use supplier tools.
4. Customer quote requests
Customers may use Mekete to submit event equipment requests. A request may include event type, event date, location, guest count, product selections, quantities, preferred styles, contact details and other relevant event information.
Mekete may classify, review, qualify or route requests before sending them to suppliers. Mekete may ask for more information if a request is incomplete, unclear, unrealistic or unsuitable for supplier matching.
Submitting a request does not guarantee that suppliers will respond, that a quote will be received, or that any supplier will be available.
5. Supplier quotes
Supplier quotes are prepared by the relevant supplier. Mekete may help structure, compare and display quotes, but Mekete is not responsible for the final price, availability, quality, delivery, setup or fulfilment of supplier services unless expressly agreed in writing.
Customers are responsible for reviewing quote details, exclusions, alternatives, delivery/setup costs, deposits, balances, validity periods and supplier terms before selecting a supplier.
6. Supplier selection and booking handover
When a customer selects a supplier quote, Mekete may create a booking handover record to help track the supplier selection, event details, deposit status, balance status, setup scheduling and completion status.
The booking handover does not mean that Mekete has processed payment. Customer deposits and balances are tracked manually on the platform unless otherwise stated.
Customers and suppliers remain responsible for confirming the final commercial arrangement, including deposit requirements, balance due, delivery terms, cancellation terms and fulfilment expectations.
7. Payments and supplier subscriptions
Mekete may offer supplier subscription plans or supplier-related paid services. These may include platform access, supplier profile visibility, supplier tools, product capability management, campaign exposure or related SaaS features.
Supplier subscription payments may be processed through third-party payment providers such as Paystack. These payments are payments from suppliers to Mekete for platform services.
Customer event booking payments are not currently processed by Mekete. Mekete does not currently provide escrow, supplier payouts, customer booking checkout, split settlement or automatic event-payment processing.
8. Supplier applications and verification
Suppliers must apply to join Mekete. Mekete may request business details, contact details, service areas, equipment categories, product evidence, delivery/setup capability, references, portfolio information and other verification material.
Mekete may approve, decline, waitlist, suspend or revoke supplier access at its discretion. Approval may depend on completeness of information, verification outcomes, product capability, service area, communication quality, response behaviour, customer feedback and platform standards.
A “verified”, “approved” or similar badge indicates that the supplier has passed Mekete's internal review process at the relevant time. It does not guarantee future performance or remove the customer's responsibility to review quotes and terms.
9. User responsibilities
Users must provide accurate, current and complete information.
Customers must not submit false requests, spam suppliers, misuse quote information, impersonate others or use Mekete for unlawful purposes.
Suppliers must not misrepresent their equipment, availability, pricing, location, capacity, identity, business details, verification status or ability to fulfil requests.
Users must comply with all applicable laws and must not misuse the platform.
10. Content and information submitted
Users may submit product information, quote details, images, messages, clarification requests, supplier evidence, customer requests and other content.
By submitting content, you confirm that you have the right to provide it and that it is accurate to the best of your knowledge. Mekete may use submitted content to operate, display, improve, review and manage the platform.
Mekete may remove, restrict or review content that is inaccurate, misleading, unlawful, abusive, fraudulent, inappropriate or inconsistent with platform standards.
11. Availability and platform changes
Mekete may update, change, suspend or discontinue parts of the platform from time to time. Mekete may add or remove features, update workflows, change supplier plans, revise verification requirements or adjust platform rules.
We aim to keep the platform available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.
12. Disputes
For supplier subscription billing disputes, users should contact Mekete at bongani@mekete.app.
For event-related issues, Mekete may review relevant platform records, including the request, quote, clarification history, booking handover, supplier responses and customer feedback.
Mekete may assist with administrative review, but it is not automatically responsible for supplier performance, late delivery, missing items, equipment quality, cancellation, refund arrangements or disputes between customers and suppliers unless expressly agreed in writing.
Supplier issues may affect supplier visibility, verification status, reliability, tier eligibility or access to future leads.
13. Limitation of liability
To the extent permitted by law, Mekete is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages arising from the use of the platform.
Mekete is not responsible for losses caused by supplier non-performance, customer misrepresentation, incorrect event details, unavailable equipment, changes in supplier pricing, third-party payment provider issues, network downtime or circumstances outside Mekete's reasonable control.
Nothing in these Terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
14. Suspension and termination
Mekete may suspend or terminate access if a user breaches these Terms, submits false information, misuses the platform, abuses other users, creates risk for customers or suppliers, or engages in unlawful or fraudulent activity.
Suppliers may also be suspended or removed for poor performance, repeated complaints, verification failure, non-payment of supplier subscriptions, misleading listings or breach of supplier standards.
15. Privacy
Mekete processes personal information in accordance with its Privacy Policy.
16. Changes to these Terms
Mekete may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be published on the website with a revised effective date.
